On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Islamic Union bloc in the Kurdistan Parliament called on the regional authorities to issue a special amnesty for Bahdinan detainees, and to close their files completely.
This came in a statement issued by the bloc.
In its statement, the bloc said: "For nearly a year, a number of teachers, activists and journalists have been in prison, without a final resolution of their cases."
The bloc added: "It is not possible to forget these detainees, by being preoccupied with electoral propaganda, despite the issuance of final prison sentences against a number of them."
The bloc demanded, saying: "Their suffering and the suffering of their families should not be prolonged, and the regional authorities should issue a special amnesty for them, and close their files completely."
