The Executive Council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union received a delegation of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region in Erbil on Wednesday afternoon 26/7/2023.
The meeting discussed the date of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the region.
The KIU delegation stressed that the extension of the term of the Kurdistan parliament was a legal mistake that caused problems for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections that should have been held on (25/10/2022),
It is better to hold elections earlier because this is a legal entitlement that should not be used as means of political conflict to have a negative impact on the entity of the region, therefore, the KIU expresses its support for any step that will lead to elections.
