The Kurdistan Islamic Union Electoral Board through a statement responded to the accusations of the New Generation.
It is surprising that some officials and media of the New Generation have repeatedly accused the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) of preventing the New Generation from becoming a member of the Independent High Commission for Elections and Referendums in the Kurdistan Region.
We reject these accusations and declare that there is no agreement between us and the ruling parties on the exclusion of any force. We ask that (Who benefits from such misleading discourse?) While the Islamic Union has made many sacrifices for its courageous positions, it is still constantly trying to strengthen and expand the opposition front, with the aim of reforming and changing the political balance in the region.
We explain to everyone that the Kurdistan Islamic Union was not against the membership of any force in the commission and our demand in the negotiations was to re-activate the commission and amend the electoral law in order to hold elections that guarantee the integrity and prevent fraud.
The Islamic Union is working to bring together the forces outside the government in an opposition project that is responsible for the situation and will not go to a media war with any party that considers itself the opposition.
