The leadership council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union held Thursday a regular meeting and issued a statement about the session.
The council said in its statement, "The parties in power in the Kurdistan region were supposed to go to Baghdad with a unified national program and project in a way that guarantees the constitutional and financial rights of the Kurdistan region, not a struggle over party positions and privileges."
Regarding the position of the union, the statement revealed that "the position of the Kurdistan Islamic Union is far from siding with a foreign side and agenda. On the contrary, the union has an independent political decision and takes its decisions according to the interests that serve the region."
Added, "The rise in global oil prices ends the justifications for the continuation of the bad financial conditions facing employees and retirees."
Stressed that "the parties in power must end the current crisis, which contributed to tarnishing the reputation and prestige of the Kurdistan Region in the region and the world, as it constituted a great burden on most of the region's residents."
