Kurdistan Islamic Union condemns burning the flag of Kurdistan

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Islamic Union issued a statement today, Saturday, October 17, 2020, regarding the burning of the Kurdistan flag and the attack on the headquarters of the political parties.

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Islamic Union declared that burning the flag of Kurdistan and the headquarters of the political parties in any Iraqi province and Kurdistan region is a non-civil phenomenon and contrast with the principles of democracy and social and political peace. Nevertheless, burning the flag of a constitutional region, which is a symbol of people that made a sacrifice, is a source of our concern and it offends the national feeling of the people of Kurdistan.

Added that Iraq needs a national dialogue, a deep political understanding, and the imposition of the will of the state. Such incidents abort attempts to solve the crises.

The Kurdistan Islamic Union, in addition to condemning this incident, calls for calming the situation and we see the need to impose the prestige of law by the state on all events.
