The Kurdistan Islamic Union described the Halabja tragedy as one of the worst genocides and crimes against humanity in the last century.
Statement issued by the Political Council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union on Thursday 15/3/2018 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Halabja tragedy, said that the city has become a global symbol of sacrifice and steadfastness.
The statement criticized the lack of clear programs to serve the infrastructure of the city, providing services and improving the living conditions of citizens, appealing at the same time the governments of the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad to assume their responsibilities towards the citizens of Halabja, and allocate a share of the state budget for the city.
