Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaauddin, received, on Thursday, the Iranian Consul in Sulaymaniyah, Mahdi Shushtari.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed political events and the situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan region, and the region as a whole.
The Secretary-General highlighted the crises that Iraq is going through in general, stressing the need for Iran to play an active role in the stability of Iraq.
The two parties also expressed their regret over the recent events in Iraq, especially the attempted assassination of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, describing it as a dangerous event that negatively affects the unity and cohesion of Iraqi society.
