On the thirtieth anniversary of the million immigration, Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaauddin, confirmed yesterday that what happened was a new Anfal operation carried out by the forces of the former regime.
In his tweet on Twitter, the Secretary-General said, "The migration of million was an attempt to extinguish the flame of the popular uprising and flee of the people for fear of chemical bombardment and a new Anfal operation by the Ba'athist regime."
He added in his tweet, "But God wanted this black smoke to turn into a new uprising of hope," explaining that "the work of the media for a month stirred the consciences of the people, which led to the emergence of the region."
