Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union delivers a speech at the Fifth Forum for Scholars

Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaaudin, delivered a speech on Saturday at the Fifth Forum of Scholars, which is held online.

Secretary-General said during his speech that "any uprising or movement will not succeed in serving the people and the nation without the role of religious scholars," explaining that "scholars must work to satisfy God Almighty and not deviate from the approach of Islam."

He added, "We feel under the current circumstances that there is a conspiracy against the Islamic religion," adding that "it is the duty of religious scholars to be aware of what the current stage requires and to take into account the rational balance in facing problems."

He stressed that "modern technology has negative effects on our society, especially the youth, so the same technology must be used to correct the misconceptions and bad habits that have slipped into our societies."

In his speech, Secretary-General stated that "we must not make our points of difference of opinion an excuse for severing relations and deepening problems, and we must work on the spirit of coexistence and the rejection of extremism," noting that "many parties and even countries seek to highlight the extremist parties as they represent Islam to distort our true religion.
