Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaudin in Erbil, on Thursday, received a delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
Member of the Executive Council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union Khalil Ibrahim at a press conference, stressed the position of his party in the selection of the opposition, and not to participate in the Kurdistan Regional Government .
"We will not back down on the opposition option," Ibrahim told a joint news conference with KDP spokesman Mahmoud Mohammad after a meeting between the two parties in Erbil.
He added that "we will monitor the performance of the new government of the Kurdistan region and we will criticize it," saying, "We are keen to be our relationship with the political parties good so that we can serve the citizens."
On the one hand, Mohammed said at the press conference that "the people of Kurdistan need all of us as parties, whether we are in opposition or power."
"The opposition can play a very good role in improving the situation," he said, adding that "our discussions will continue as an authority and opposition."
"Our meeting with the Islamic Union is not new, if there is no alliance between us, we will have close and solid ties," he said.
