Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union Salahuddin Muhammad Bahaaudin, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Political Bureau in Sulaymaniyah and in the presence of Nasek Tawfiq and Mohamed Ahmed, members of the Executive Council, received the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Henness Blashkart.
Secretary-General during his meeting with Blashkart stressed the need for the United Nations to play its role in Iraq, according to the Constitution, in mediation to end the crisis between the federal government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The two sides stressed the need for coordination between political parties in the Kurdistan region and the United Nations, and pointed to the need to implement all the provisions of the Iraqi constitution in resolving differences.
For her part, Blashkart confirmed that its main role in Iraq is to resolve the outstanding issues in the country in general, as well as resolving the differences between Baghdad and Erbil in particular.
