Kurdistan Islamic Union bloc reveals significant corruption in oil refineries

The Kurdistan Islamic Union bloc in Kurdistan Parliament, Thursday, revealed that KRG gave two oil refineries to the private sector.

The head of the bloc Sherko Jawdat told Kurdiu that "the Kurdistan Regional Government decided in 2016 to stop domestic support for the production of white oil and selling it in the markets," adding that "since then a crisis of white oil in the Kurdistan region began."

Jawdat confirmed that "Bazian and Kalak refineries were given to the private sector and they are working to secure white oil for markets".

He explained that "KRG has still not implemented its decisions on the establishment of oil refineries to produce fuel for internal needs," noting that "the citizens of the Kurdistan region still suffer from the lack of fuel and household fuel despite the availability in the region's refineries."
