Leadership Council of the KIU issues a statement at the end of its regular meeting

Yesterday, Saturday, the leadership council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union held its regular periodic meeting, during which it discussed a number of variables in Kurdistan and the region, and called on the regional government to expedite the treatment of the salary problem in a way that guarantees the interests of citizens and the rights of employees in general.

In the name of Allah the Merciful

The final statement of the regular meeting of the leadership council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union:

On Saturday, 3/7/2021, the leadership council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union held its regular meeting; Headed by Dr. Hadi Ali, Chairman of the Council, and in the presence of Secretary-General Salahuddin Muhammad Bahauddin, and with the participation of all members of the Council.

at the outset of the meeting; The latest changes and developments in the region in general and their effects on the Kurdistan region, in particular, were highlighted, and the living conditions of citizens were discussed, as they suffer from life difficulties. Especially the employee segment as a result of the government’s persistence in the policy of deducting 21% of salaries, despite the end of financial obligations and excuses... In this regard; The Leadership Council stressed that the government should speed up finding solutions to the salary crisis, in order to guarantee the rights of employees in general.

In another aspect of the meeting; The Leadership Council stressed the need to confront dangerous phenomena such as the spread of narcotics and the mass migration of young people, as well as to carry out real reforms and put an end to the increase in taxes and fees that burden citizens, and cut off the path to looting public wealth obtained from oil sales and border crossings, and the necessity of returning it to the government treasury and distributing it transparently and fairly.

In its meeting, the Leadership Council also discussed the issue of human rights violations and restrictions on freedoms in general, and freedom of press work in particular. In this context, it was emphasized that press freedoms should be respected, and the independence of the judiciary be preserved, as they are two pillars of the democratic system and good governance.

At a time when the Leadership Council expresses its hope that the borders of the Kurdistan region will be protected and safe from fighting, unrest, and regional interference; It also calls for resolving differences through dialogue and sound methods.

With regard to Kirkuk and the regions of Article 140, the Leadership Council demands; The regional government and the political parties pay due attention to these areas and work seriously to annex them to the Kurdistan region.

On the other side of the meeting; The Leadership Council discussed the issue of the early parliamentary elections in Iraq, and highly valued the role of the Executive Council and the relevant institutions that made efforts to form an expanded electoral list independent of the parties in power, but unfortunately, it did not reach any results. Also in the electoral context, it called the Leadership Council; Citizens go to the polling stations and participate extensively in the voting process. The Council also expressed its hope that the elections will take place in a safe and stable atmosphere, far from a fraud.

On a final theme of the meeting; The Leadership Council shed light on the internal affairs of the party, and thanked all the party’s institutions for their efforts during the past period, in addition to the members’ commitment to the instructions to prevent the pandemic.

Finally; The leadership council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union affirms that it always stands with the masses and in the trench of defending the rights and legitimate demands of the citizens of Kurdistan, and expresses its full readiness to provide any service in this regard.
