Kurdistan Islamic Union: We aspire to strengthen the opposition front

Head of the Political Council of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Khalil Ibrahim, stressed that his party aspires to strengthen the political opposition front in the region by coordinating the positions of parties rejecting the policies of the government.

Ibrahim said in a statement to Speda channel: "We have announced that we do not participate in the next government of the Kurdistan region , because the mentality of officials of the Authority has not changed and no hope for political and administrative reforms."

Ibrahim explained: "We were the first party announced its transformation to the opposition, continue the political and parliamentary struggle."

He added: "We aspire to strengthen the opposition political and parliamentary front, by coordinating the positions of parties rejecting the policies of the government of the two parties Patriotic Union and the Democratic Party."

On 23 October, the Kurdistan Islamic Union announced that it would not participate in the next cabinet of the region and turn into "active opposition".
