Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Salahaddin Muhammad Bahaaddin, met, on Tuesday, with the Spanish Ambassador in the capital, Petro Martinez, in the capital, Baghdad.
During the meeting, Secretary-General stressed to the Spanish ambassador that "the Islamic Union is with the consolidation of the principles of the constitution and the solution of Iraq's political problems on the basis of understandings."
In another part of his speech, Salahaddin Muhammad Bahaaddin said: "The citizens of the Kurdistan Region have made great sacrifices and are still making, and it is imperative that the rights of citizens be safeguarded at the various political and life levels in Iraq in general and the Kurdistan Region in particular."
For his part, the Spanish ambassador expressed his happiness for the visit of the delegation of the Islamic Union and to discuss closely and clearly on the situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The ambassador described the meetings of Salahaddin as "important" and as "sincere endeavors" to open the "closed doors of dialogue" and "break the political deadlock", praising the visions of the Islamic Union in general and its positive role in bringing the Iraqi parties together.
