The Office of Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, on Wednesday, issued a clarification statement on the proposal of the Council of Kurdistan Parties.
The statement said that "member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Fadel Merani in an interview with the Kurdish section of the Voice of America, said that the Council of Kurdistan parties is a proposal submitted by the Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union Salahuddin Mohammed Bahauddin."
The statement pointed out that "the proposal of the Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union for the formation of the Council of Kurdistan parties was submitted in 2006 after the unification of the two administrations in the Kurdistan region," adding that "the proposal was an immediate solution for that period and in special circumstances."
Pointed out that "Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union did not make any new statements about what is being circulated in the media about the establishment of the Council of political parties in Kurdistan".
